January 2025 Writing Update

So, new year, new me? Or more or less the same me? I think it’s more “more or less the same me”. However, you know, still looking to progress. After a hiatus of two whole days, I am ready to get back to the grind. Rather than update on my progress here as I’ve done previously, I intend to use this post to give myself goals for the year in relation to writing. Or, for the thesaurus-owning amongst us, resolutions. First up, I’d like to get at least two horror / thriller / horror adjacent stories out into the world this year. This can be Substack, this can be (ideally) published on some sort of legitimate platform, anything. I’d just like for it to happen.

Second, bigger goal is to actually get the novel in a finalized place where I would not feel immense shame if I were to start sending it out for consideration via queries. Now, this means I would actually start sending it out for consideration. Additionally, I’d like to rework another mystery, just to have another narrative in the tank and increase marketability if I am able to get any serious opportunities. But that is likely a Q2 2025 sort of thing. You can take the soul of of the finance industry worker but…oh, wait…that’s not the saying. Anywho, those are the big ticket items for 2025. Here’s to reaching those goals, and here (literally) is this post to keep me honest.
