December 2024 Review
Yes, the movie event of the Christmas season is here! (At least until Nosferatu comes out, that is.) Listen to my review of Wicked, where I discuss how the film adaptation adds elements that simply are incapable of existing in the stage play medium, as well as how the film handles the core story and music of the Broadway titan.
December 2024 Writing Update
In this update, I talk about what is likely my final writing endeavor I’ll be able to finish this year, a horror short story that I’m hoping to have finished within the next few days. I feel it has a real chance to achieve one of the loftier New Year’s Resolutions I’ve set for myself this year…make something which I genuinely believe to be scary. In the medium of novels, this is a somewhat high bar for me to clear, so I’m cautiously optimistic.
November 2024 Review
My pain is your pleasure! Watch as I endure Rebel Moon, a nearly-three-hour marathon of struggle. As the film goes, its cliches cause me to become increasingly inebriated, all in the service of your entertainment. Yay for 500 subscribers?
November 2024 Writing Update
In this update, I review what went right (write?) in National Novel Writing Month, comparing some struggles of draft one with their lessons learned and implemented in draft two. Also, I definitely didn’t post this late, you’re crazy.
October 2024 Writing Update
In this update, I lament my fortuitous timing for National Novel Writing Month and go through a crisis of decision. To begin anew like I promised I would (and likely should)? Or to close out my spur-of-the-moment Halloween short story and then dive back into the novel’s second draft?
October 2024 Review
October? Halloween? Oh, looks like I forgot to review a scary movie this year. Instead, I had a scary experience watching a movie. Not because it was scary. It was actually just really bad.
September 2024 Writing Update
Hey! Now, look at this! I finally finished the edit! A self-congratulating blog update where I talk about the side project I'm using to keep my writing brain engaged in the downtime, and my hopes for the second draft of the novel now that it's finished.
September 2024 Review
September? That's basically October, which is basically Halloween. Time to review something in that aesthetic, such as the new Beetlejuice.
August 2024 Writing Update
Hey, look at that. Another picture I took on the cover this month. Nice shot, me! A briefer update for now, but an update which is also relatively positive. Yay?
August 2024 Review
Well, I suppose this is my long-overdue punishment for going so long without reviewing movies. Brutal and swift and unending. I find it miraculous I survived.
July 2024 Review
Finally I return from the land of television to review an actual movie on my movie review YouTube channel. Much like Proximus, I give the people what they want. Or, I try to make you think I do….
July 2024 Writing Update
A bit late to the game, but giving some updates in the wake of my move. About editing, about writing with low stakes, and about “method” writing. Plus, a picture from my vacation.
June 2024 Writing Update
Rambling about the editing process and about the increasingly-clear evidence that a full out, fresh start, Draft Two is going to be in order once I’m done with Draft One editing.
June 2024 Review
I discuss my ongoing effort to avoid reviewing movies on my movie review channel by discussing two excellent television shows I watched recently, Shogun and Blue Eye Samurai.
May 2024 Review
This month I talked about Invincible, and how its creator and writers have used the benefits of hindsight and experience to enhance the story when it does stray from the source material.
April 2024 Writing update
Turns out editing is hard. Even harder than writing, some might say.
March 2024 Writing update
Talking about that feeling of finishing up the first draft…and some of the less useful things that come with it.
March 2024 Review
Keeping theme with my 2024 reviews, it’s another series. This time, Percy Jackson Season One gets a cross-examination.
